Custom Shiplap Accent Wall
A carpentry upgrade featuring a floor-to-ceiling shiplap accent wall. Hand-crafted wood paneling installed with perfect spacing, crisp corner transitions, and a premium satin paint finish.
Project Design & Execution
For this accent wall installation, we prepared the drywall base, mapped out the stud coordinates, and established a level baseline using a precision laser level. We chose a custom spacing interval of 1/8 inch between planks to create a consistent farmhouse shadow line, adding clean architectural depth to the wall.
Laying horizontal planks from floor to ceiling requires constant checks for alignment, as even a minor slope at the base can lead to significant misalignment at the top. Every board was secured to the wall studs using high-strength wood adhesive and finish nails. Special attention was given to routing precise cutouts around electrical outlets, ensuring cover plates sit perfectly flush with the shiplap surface.
The finished accent wall received three coats of premium white satin enamel paint. All nail holes were filled and sanded flat, creating a clean finish that catches light beautifully. We integrated the new paneling with the existing crown molding and added a custom craftsman-style baseboard to tie the room together.
